The writing, the dialogue, the character development were all very well done, while the plot was surprisingly tense and more than enjoyable. I thought that Marianne would annoy me because of her naivety but actually is was bourne out of trust rather than stupidity and because of this I warmed to her. De I was expecting a short romance novel which is a nice read but not that great a writing style. Despite his questionable name I really liked this book! I expected an entertaining enough story but nothing too exciting. I was wrong.
Every aspect of the book was quite engaging, the romance was believable and solid, the characters were well developed As the story played out, I did figure out a few elements, but didn't understand fully until it was entirely spelled out for me - and it was completely unexpected. Wow, wh I really liked this book!

I doubt that the anachronism will bother someone who isn't an Oscar Wilde scholar, though. Overall, a good effort!

She met her husband quite literally between science labs, on a staircase, which was an advantageous first meeting place given their difference in heights—Margaret is small—her husband, tall.
It was love at first sight, despite the voluminous white coats, and they're still together fifteen years later. As a child Margaret spent much of her time in an imaginary world. Her family always said she would grow out of it; she's still waiting. She's still reading them, but at least she now buys her own! Fortunately for Margaret her school library held a shelfful of old donated Georgette Heyer books.
Be still her beating teenage heart. Her view on romance was skewed forever—dashing rakes in buckskin pantaloons and riding boots figure in it somewhere! Margaret wrote two manuscripts and suffered numerous rejections from publishers and agents before joining the Romantic Novelists Association.
